1985 Chevrolet El Camino - Very Nice Ground Restored Elky Nice Upgrades!
Chevrolet and Ford solidified their positions at the top of the American market with fast-flowing styling and technical innovations in the super-competitive post World War II market. Most of those advances entered the market as improvements to passenger cars, but a funny thing happened on the way to the '60s when light-truck customers began demanding more creature comforts, a smoother ride and at least an impression of style for those weekend family picnics or trips into town. Both manufacturers responded with gentrified versions of their pickup trucks, but the demand did not stop there. After pondering the solution, in 1957 Ford daringly chopped off the back half of the two-door Fairlane's roof to open up the cargo area that had always been available. They called this new model the Ranchero, and in 1959 Chevrolet responded in kind with the El Camino. When horsepower began to rule in the early '60s, Chevrolet gave the El Camino the same SS396 shot in the arm as the Chevelle on which it was then based, even dropping in the mighty 454 LS6 in 1970. Through the 1970s and '80s, Chevrolet remade the El Camino with two-tone paint schemes, graphics packages and higher-grade interior appointments. These models remained successful right through the '80s until the El Camino took its bow after 1987, two years after this sharp-looking 1985 example arrived on the scene. Powered by the dual-exhaust equipped worked 305 CI V-8 engine mated to a 3-speed automatic and optioned with power steering, and disc brakes, this black and silver El Camino is good-looking and fun to drive. Sharp two-tone scheme, a cowl induction style hood and Goodyear Eagle tires on 5-spoke American Racing wheels give it a muscular look, and the gray interior offers the comfort and convenience of air conditioning, custom pioneer stereo system, remote driver side mirror, center dash gauges.
